If you already have some basic drawing knowledge then this is for you. This course will cover a variety of subjects including composition, perspective and scale. A resource list will be given in Week One.

On this beginners dress-making course you will be shown a series of techniques for pleats, frills, gathers, inserting zips, button attachment and hook and eye fastenings. You will also be shown different seams, hems, bindings, piping and a selection of different pockets. You will create a folder of all the techniques with instructions to recreate at home afterwards. If you love flowers and enjoy craft hobbies then this is the course for you! Each week try a new technique, including fun and creative ways with flowers, from interesting use of florist sundries to the fascinating skill of bow-making. No prior experience necessary just enthusiasm. Your tutor will give you a list of resources on a weekly basis.

This course enables learners to produce Contemporary Floral Designs each week, using new techniques, innovative ideas, and unusual materials to enhance flowers and foliage. Ideally learners should already be competent with wiring techniques and plant manipulation, as well as having access to floristry accessories and garden plant material. Marvel at what you can achieve with a knitted black bin liner and a few well chosen flowers!

A course for those with an understanding of the basics of flower arranging but wishing to extend their skills with more difficult ideas, techniques and ?twiggy? structures! Experiment with colour schemes, and extend your knowledge of plant material, whilst creating an arrangement in each class. Designs will be suitable for Autumn and Christmas, and learners should have access to garden plant material for their work.

This course aims to help both novice and experienced gardeners to improve their garden through a structured, informative, yet fun, approach to revealing the underlying principles of good gardening in order to get the best out of your plants and garden. Class time will cover the theory of understanding plants and a practical element to implement at home. To be accredited to a Level One ?Open College Network? certificate, there are five learning outcomes: Analysing your soil; understanding plant names; plant life-cycles. understanding the different parts of plants; how to select plants for a specified purpose.

This course is designed for people who are new to the experience of image making. Learners will be encouraged to work from various sources, ranging from still life, 3-dimensional objects to photographs etc. It is very important for learners to understand that developing image-making skills can take time and patience. You will need to bring a sketchbook and basic drawing materials. Your tutor will provide you with a resource list.

From earrings to bracelets, you will learn different skills and techniques to create jewellery which you can wear yourself or give as presents to friends and family. Each week you will be able to make a new piece of jewellery looking at different styles and techniques, whether you like classic and sophisticated or fun and funky, there will be something for everyone. Have you ever wanted to learn to paint with oil paints? This course will explore landscape oil painting. You will learn about wet on wet painting, about mixing the colours, how to apply the oils, how long the oils take to dry, the after care to oil paintings, and learn how to have a wonderful hobby from learners to experienced painters. This course is aimed at those who would like to learn the basic skills and techniques of how to handknit. Each week you will build upon basic methods learned and be taught new stitches, techniques and skills. Your tutor will provide a resource list in Week One.

Make a different block every week using a variety of techniques to include patchwork, appliqué and strip piecing and join them together to make a quilt. Your tutor will give you a resource list in Week One.

If you like the smell of wonderful bath-time treats then this course is for you. We will make scrumptious bathtime treats from coconut soap to sweet-smelling violet body moisturiser as well as bath bombs, scented bath salts, oils and much more. Either pamper yourself or give away as gifts. A resource list will be given in Week One.

Learn how to embroider on linen or Aida, how to cross stitch or do tapestries and how to design your own patterns. You will be fully supported in your learning. A resource list will be available in Week One.

Do you have any ?old? and ?tired? furniture that you would like to transform into stylish pieces? This course will cover paint techniques such as stencilling, stippling, ragging, marbling and many more. These techniques can then be applied to create unique furniture pieces as a centre piece for your home. There is an additional fee of £5 per learner (regardless of whether you are eligible for fee-remitted learning) during Week One of the course for resources. Learners are asked to wear old clothes or to bring an apron/overalls to class because of the nature of the course being undertaken.
