BACKGROUND AND ETHOS
Sutton Centre a county secondary college for pupils of 11-18. It is also a community college, for adults as well as pupils. This means that we are open in the evening for students to come back in and work under the guidance of teachers (11th Sessions). The college has a commitment to developing the potential of each individual child by striving for academic success; by valuing and encouraging the special talents of all children; by looking to educate the whole child in a wide range of personal skills; by providing good discipline based on a firm, consistent and supportive system of pastoral care.
We have a clear Behaviour Policy and as a guiding principle the phrase “Consideration for Others” which we constantly reinforce with our pupils and which helps to create the very special atmosphere of Sutton Centre: happy, purposeful and right for learning. It encompasses more than rules and regulations, it is an expectation that we are considerate of everyone else in whatever we say and whatever we do.
The college has achieved both a national and international reputation for the quality of its education and we have a highly professional staff, committed to the Centre and its pupils.
