EXTENDED SERVICES

Working With Parents
The support of the family is crucial to a child’s success in education, and because of this we work closely with parents, seeking to involve them in the education of children and in the life of the College.  Sutton Centre has been in the forefront of developing ways of involving parents through, initially the PACE project (Parents as CoEducators), as a Leading Edge Partnership School, and now as an Extended Services School.  Extended services involves offering families, children and members of the local community, additional services and support to meet their needs.  The Sutton Centre ‘family’ includes schools with nursery, primary and secondary aged children and their families, and the team of staff includes a Partnership Project Co-ordinator and a Family Study Support worker. (Further information can be provided by telephoning 01623-405503).

Our aim is to develop a culture of life-long learning, especially through the development of our adult education provision and family learning opportunities.  Our continuing status as a Leading Edge School will allow us to continue to break new ground in developing this provision.  We will be continuing to work in partnership with other education and training providers, with local business and community and arts organisations.  This will be developed through our specialist status, through developing collaborative approaches to 14-19 curriculum pathways, through further development of our Extended Schools provision, through our status as a Creative Arts hub school and ever closer links with local primary schools.
